Welcome from the MHDA President
Dear Members, Family, Friends and Supporters:

We want to congratulate the HDA for choosing our beautiful and strong city of Boston to hold the Annual Meeting. We also want to congratulate the NDA (National Dental Association) for their 100th anniversary . We are honor to have Dr. Maritza Morell as the HDA present President. We hope you enjoy this Annual Meeting and participate in many CE and great lectures that this event has. Also, have the time to go to the exhibition floor.
Our MHDA is 20 years old and we are very proud of our projects like the Mentoring Program in which we promote dentistry as a career for minorities for Middle school, High school and college students, as well as Foreign Dentist since 1996. Another big project is our annually Symposium in Dental Careers. This have been a great success for the past three years.
We have been blessed with the Award Grant for the Program Give a Kid a Smile (GKAS) that allows us toprovide free dental care for the underservedchildren in our community.
We are so proud to provide dental care overseas with our 14 mission trips (4 Equator,3 Salvador, Dominican republic 3,Haiti 3, and one in Peru). We are grateful to announce that we have The Hispanic International Mission INC (HIM) under leadership Dr. Aidee Nieto-Herman.
Finally, I would like to thank our members for the continuing support to our MHDA.

It is a great honor for me to serve as the President of the Massachusetts Hispanic Dental Association (MHDA), a non-profit organization that has benefited many people and exceeded expectations in its first 20 years. I am so profoundly happy and proud to lead this amazing organization named MHDA.
To begin 2013, our 20th anniversary year, we will be hosting a reception at the Yankee Dental Congress in Boston, MA on Friday, February 1st. This will be followed by several celebratory events throughout the year. Please visit our website www.mymhda.org for further information.
As I reflect on the extraordinary leaders who preceded me, and the productivity of our organization over the last 20 years, my commitment to our mission, vision, and future are redoubled. We are currently implementing a strategic plan for the next 10 years, which will lead us toward an even more dynamic future. One element of this plan will be the announcement of an ambitious campaign to raise funds for our many projects. The motto for this campaign will be “One Person Can Make The Difference.” The funds we raise will be used in projects such as “Promoting Dentistry as a Career for Minorities” scholarship program, “Symposiums on Dental Careers,” “Give a Kid a Smile Project (which provides free dental care),” and so forth. And of course we will also continue to support our humanitarian mission trips to Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. Your support for this campaign and our ongoing commitment to promoting oral health care in the underserved Hispanic community in Massachusetts will be fundamental to accomplishing our objectives.
I will kindly ask each and everyone to support MHDA with your time, efforts, and financial support.
Again, I am thrilled to be here to celebrate our amazing 20 years of accomplishment, and excited to be part of the leadership guiding us toward an exciting future. Please remember to join us on February 1st at our kick-off reception, and at all of our 20th anniversary celebratory events during 2013.
